FAQ

What do I do first?

  • Text or call to determine if we are a good fit for your dog and if dates/needs align. If we’re a good fit… What do I do second?

  • Complete these three forms:

  • Email the completed forms to hillcountryk9club@gmail.com; or mail them to P.O. Box 346, Center Point, TX 78010; or text photos of each page to 512-789-0697; or bring them with you on the day of check-in (include any special needs or behaviors we need to know about).

  • OPTIONAL: Schedule a site visit to tour our facility and to have your dog behaviorally assessed (this is not always available and must be scheduled by appointment).

Are my dogs required to be vaccinated?

Dogs must be up to date on Rabies, Distemper & Parvo. However, we understand there are dogs that cannot be vaccinated due to health or age, so let’s discuss your vet’s recommendation.

Are my dogs required to be on a flea & tick preventative?

We do not require you to use preventative, but dogs must not have any fleas or ticks.

What do I bring for Daycare?

A leash – We do not feed dogs during daycare unless it’s absolutely necessary and bedding will be provided for naps.

What do I bring for Boarding?

A leash, instructions for how much to feed at each feeding, and a bed. Please note that due to the environment, your dog’s bed will likely get dusty, hairy, and dirty from the stay, so don’t send a super expensive bed! Toys/Bowls are not needed. We normally do not feed treats during boarding.

Should I bathe my dog before their stay?

No, unless they are extremely dirty or do not smell good. Expect them to come home dusty and a little dirty – after all they’re playing with other dogs on our acreage. We do not groom or bathe dogs, so if you want to book an appointment with your groomer after a long stay, that will ensure your dog returns home clean!

Will you feed canned food, raw food, or home-made food?

YES just bring it in an ice chest if it needs to be refrigerated (we will put in fridge when you arrive and keep ice chest for leftovers).

What about medications?

Yes we will dispense meds to your dog as long as it does not require needles or anything too difficult.

What does K9 Club do if there is an emergency?

We call our mobile vet (who is available for questions 24-hours a day/ 7-days a week) to determine the best course of action. We then call you to allow you to be involved in decisions.

What are your hours for check-ins and check-outs?

It is always better to have your dog check-in earlier in the day, rather than evening, so they can get acquainted with the place and other dogs that are boarding. If they’ve been here before, this is less of a concern.

Our standard check-in and out hours are listed below, but because we are a small business and we all like flexibility, we can discuss your needs and work out what works best for you. All check-ins & outs are by pre-arranged appointment only.

  • Weekdays: 8 to 8:45am, Noon to 5:30pm

  • Saturdays: 8am to Noon

  • Sundays: 8:30 to 9:30am, 1:30pm-2:30pm

Why Send Your Dog to Daycare?

Daycare is available on a VERY limited basis. Please text your needs to (512)-789-0697. Socialization is key to developing a dog that is wonderful to be around. Without it, a dog’s world becomes small and they cannot go places with their family or have fun with other dogs – that is a huge limitation for a dog and it limits how integrated into their family members’ lives the dog can become. If your dog only hangs out with humans, they are forced to exist with “aliens” that do not speak their language or act like them. Guess what – you’re not a dog no matter how hard you try! The result is insecurity and fear.

Additionally, without exercise, dogs become unhealthy, obsessive, destructive, overweight, bored and depressed. Being outside with other dogs and humans lifts a dogs spirits: It is just plain good form and exactly where they belong. Our unique OFF-LEASH experience will improve your dogs socialization skills and provide that much needed exercise – we do it everyday!

What does a normal Daycare day look like?

Daycare is available on a VERY limited basis. Please text your needs to (512)-789-0697. Upon arrival, your dog will be introduced to the other dogs, one at a time, and take on an off-leash walk on our acreage with other dog-friendly, trustworthy dogs. The dogs can sniff and run with friends they know and meet new ones. After our walk, the dogs continue to explore and play on our acreage, play chase games with new and old friends or relax inside a 360-square-foot climate-controlled doggie room.

Dogs can be outside from their arrival time until the weather no longer permits it – then we’ll go in the dog room. They can continue to play indoors and also have access to a doggie door which leads to a smaller, fenced area around the dog building.

Most people pick up their dogs from daycare by 5:30pm, but we do have flexibility.

What does a normal Dog Boarding day/night look like?

We are usually up for a walk by 7:00am. They’re allowed to play and are fed before 9:00am. Then, they relax for an hour before playing again.

We follow the Daycare schedule for the rest of the day and usually have dinner around 6:00pm. After dinner, we take walks outside together or they can relax and hang out, un-crated, in the dog room with access to a doggie door.

We do one last walk around 9:00pm and then they are crated—if they prefer it—or they sleep on dogs beds, uncrated, in the dog room.

Do you post pictures of dogs during their stay?

Yes, we post on our Facebook page under Hill Country K9 Club videos and pictures. You are always welcome to text or call us for an updated status of how your dog is doing!

What payments do you accept and when is payment due?

We take checks, cash, or Venmo (an app that allows you to use a credit card or pay directly from your bank account). Payment is due at check-out.

Do you require a deposit?

During peak times (4th of July, Christmas to New Year’s, Thanksgiving), we may require a 50% non-refundable deposit – we will discuss this during your booking.

How much time do you need in advance to book a reservation?

We are flexible but during peak times (4th of July, Christmas to New Year’s, Thanksgiving), we do need advance reservations because we are usually full. We do have a waiting list.
